Surrender a Cat

We understand that life can present unexpected challenges, whether that's the loss of a job, the death of a loved one, or an unexpected move. If you are facing life difficulties that prevent you from continuing to care for your cat(s), please contact us to see if we can help.

What to Expect

Moby Kit Rescue is a foster-based, no-kill rescue based in the southcoast region of Massachusetts. We accept cats of all ages, from 1-day-old kittens to senior cats. Every cat has a home at Moby Kit Rescue.

If you reach out and we have space for your cat, we would have you sign a Surrender Form, where you are encouraged to provide as much information about your cat's history, medical history (if known), likes, dislikes etc. That way we can find a compatible adoptive home and help ease your cat's transition.

Your cat would reside in a foster home (cage-free) where they can live comfortably until we find them an adopter. They are cared for by our fosters who ensure that they have a quiet and comfortable room to themselves (sometimes a full house), toys, comfortable beds, access to high-quality food, fresh water and lots of love. If your cat has any medical issues or special dietary requirements, they will addressed and treated by their foster family and future adopter. Before being rehomed, they are seen by licensed veterinarian, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped,FeLV & FIV-tested and treated for parasites. We perform thorough evaluations of all prospective adopters to ensure that they can provide the best possible home for the cat. This includes housing checks, vet reference and personal references.
